Hi thanks and not a problem. :) You have some great pieces yourself, although I prefer your non anime work. I really admire and respect both manga and anime and it is an influence on my own work. Manga and anime have become part of popular culture globally and therefore consider anime/manga to be a form<img src="cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items…" style="border: none !important; display: inline-block !important; text-indent: 0px !important; float: none !important; font-weight: bold !important; height: 10px !important; margin: 0px 0px 0px 3px !important; min-height: 0px !important; min-width: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important; text-transform: uppercase !important; text-decoration: underline !important; vertical-align: super !important; width: 10px !important; background: transparent !important;"> of pop art. The art form and the artist who create manga or anime are IMO no less relevant then say artist like Andy Warhol and  Robert Rauschenberg.

One artist that has really inspired me is Tsutomu Nihei and his Bio Mega series. His artwork is truly outstanding in it's originality and treatment<img src="cdncache1-a.akamaihd.net/items…" style="border: none !important; display: inline-block !important; text-indent: 0px !important; float: none !important; font-weight: bold !important; height: 10px !important; margin: 0px 0px 0px 3px !important; min-height: 0px !important; min-width: 0px !important; padding: 0px !important; text-transform: uppercase !important; text-decoration: underline !important; vertical-align: super !important; width: 10px !important; background: transparent !important;"> of subject matter. I'm not such a big fan of digital anime vs old style cell. While I enjoy watching the crisper images of modern anime I really respect technical and artistic ability of the old style cell animation from the 70's, 80's and early/mid 90's.

70's/80's: Robotech was a hit as a child as was Ultraman, Mazinger Z vs Devil man, Star blazers, Goglo 13, Grendizer, Battle of the Planets, Fist of the North Star, The castle of Cagliostro, Cities of Gold, Ulysses, Voltron, Vampire hunter D, Astro Boy etc. The biggest impact of this era was Urotsukidōji  aka Chojin legend of the overfiend (Toshio Maeda created the original paperback manga while Hideki Takayama based the anime version on the original manga but took considerable liberties with the violence and the original tentacle rape anime).

90's: Wicked city, AD police, Patlabor, Genocyber, Devil Man, Porco Rosso (any studio Ghibli anime is impressive as hell!), Ghost in the shell (This was one of the first anime's to use digital elements), Gundam series, A Wind Named Amnesia (based on a novel by Hideyuki Kikuchi, I loved it!), Ninja scroll (One of the all time greats along side Ghost in the shell IMO), Bezerk (manga by Kentaro Miura), Legend of the Galactic hero's, Silent Mobius, Cashan robot hunter... I'll stop there as I could go on for pages and I'm forgetting a heap of awesome anime movies and series as well.

So yeah I like anime/manga but it is just one form of what is basically pop art. It's great to incorporate traditional illustration and say life drawing as well to create a rounded ability as an artist/illustrator IMO. Create your own unique style by combining and counterbalancing other techniques/styles as you develop your own unique artistic perspective. Then apply it to your artworks. :)
